Eurobike: Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt 799 MSL
Canada-based Rocky Mountain showed off their Thunderbolt 799 MSL at Eurobike—an electronic shifting 27.5-inch XC rig sure to draw both cheers and jeers. The 120mm-travel bike bounces on Rocky’s Smoothlink four-bar suspension controlled by a mechanical-remote FOX CTD shock, and comes with Shimano’s high-zoot XTR Di2 electronic shifting. The carbon wünderbike also comes with a healthy $11,500 price tag.
As you might expect, the Thunderbolt 799 MSL is equipped with line-topping parts across the board: a FOX 32 Float CTD 120mm fork, Shimano XTR brakes with Ice-Tech rotors, a RockShox Reveb Stealth dropper post and a pair of Stan’s ZTR Valor 27.5-inch carbon wheels wrapped in Maxxis’ Ardent tires.
Naturally, Rocky put the über bike front-and-center at Eurobike, but tucked inside their stand just a few feet away were the more earthly priced Thunderbolt 770 MSL ($5,799) and Thunderbolt 750 MSL ($4,599).
