Easton Havic 27.5s

Easton debuted 27.5-inch versions of their burly Havoc all-mountain wheels at Eurobike.

Easton introduced a 27.5-inch version of their $999 Havoc all-mountain/enduro wheelset at Eurobike, displaying them with the improved M1 hubs they’ve deployed throughout their line. The wheels feature Easton’s 21mm deep aluminum rims with a 23mm internal/28mm external width. The rims are completely sealed and don’t require strips for tubeless use, and are laced with 24 double-butted, three-cross spokes on the front wheel and 28 straight-gauge, four-cross spokes in the rear.

Front hubs are sold in either 15mm or 20mm thru-axle configurations but can be converted with an aftermarket kit. The rear hub ships with a 12x150mm axle but can be converted to 12×157 with an aftermarket kit. The set weighs in at 1940 grams, excluding the included pair of tubeless valve stems with removable valve cores.

Easton Haven Carbon 27.5s

Easton’s premium Haven Carbon wheels have been shipping in limited quantities for a few months but availability should improve in a matter of days.

Like their Havoc model, Easton’s 1550-gram Haven Carbon trail wheels feature completely sealed rim beds that don’t require the complication or weight of rim strips. As the name suggests, however, the rims are made of Easton’s “bulletproof” proprietary Armored Ballistic Carbon, a materials blend that adds malleability to the layup, making the wheels much more resistant to cracking and impact failure than standard layups.

The 27.5-inch Havens Carbons feature 24 double-butted, three-cross spokes front and rear and are available in every modern axle configuration. The rims measure 21mm internal/26mm external in width, and the wheels ship with a pair of tubeless valve stems with removable valve cores.

If the $2199 price tag for carbon is out of your price zone, a pair of 1650-gram aluminum versions can be had for less than half the price at $999.
