Eurobike 2015: Alpinestars new lightweight protection
Volcano knee & elbow guards
When you ride your bike in hot climates and still want to have some kind of protection without the bulk and lack of body cooling, have a look at the Alpinestars Volcano knee & elbow guards. These lightweight and breathing guards have a mesh fabric base. Over injected foam protector are held in place by this mesh fabric. The protectors are made with Alpinestars’ in house technology and are tested for abrasion, impact and even flame burst protection.
The elbow guards weigh in at 110g per piece while the knee guards stop the scale at 170 g per piece. Velcro straps make putting them on possible without having to take off your shoes. The protectors have built in holes for better air flow – no more excuse for not wearing protection, even climbing!
Paragon vest
As a further development from the Evolution vest, the Paragon vest offers the same lightweight build, but lacks the chest protection. Made for less extreme conditions, the Paragon vest still contains a CE1 certified removable/replaceable and ergonomically shaped back protector. The stretch mesh chassis allows the vest to be worn under a jersey or on its own and offers maximum breathability and ventilation combined with a light weight and a slim fit.
Thirsty? The back protector compartment pocket can house a hydration pack – on the upper left shoulder a water tube loop is already put on the vest, with a double cut-out on the back panel to pass the water tube. Both the side pockets have internal padding, so you are protected from hard objects in the pockets in case of a crash.
