CushCore 27.5+ insert launched
CushCore has a new addition to its range of tire inserts, this week launching the CushCore 27.5+ insert. It’s 50% wider than the standard 27.5 insert, yet at a weight close to the current 29er product, claims the Oregon-based company.
The new CushCore 27.5+ offering will fit rims with internal widths of 32mm-45mm and is optimized to bring CushCore’s ride quality enhancement to tires in the 2.6-3.0 range. Price for two tire inserts plus two valve stems is $149. A single insert is $76, or about the cost of a decent mountain bike tire.
A lightweight, engineered closed-cell foam insert that fits inside the tire, the idea is that CushCore inserts reduce the tire’s air volume and add a damping aspect, improving the way your tires react to terrain and impacts. As such, it is ideally suited to the big world of plus-size tires, where the benefits of low tire pressure and large contact patch traction are often challenged by excess tire deformation and less than ideal sidewall support.
In addition to damping the tire’s air chamber, enhancing the suspension potential inherent in 27.5+ tires, the new CushCore insert bolsters the tire’s sidewall, ensuring more predictable behavior, reducing tire squirm, protecting rims against impacts, and allowing you to realize the traction benefits of large tires without less downsides.
