Bikepacking and fly fishing in the Sierras

Tour de Tahoe

Very few regions in this world offer the scenic and adventure-filled options of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area.

Stan Jorgenson, a pro enduro rider from Sacramento, took some friends out to do two of the things he enjoys most — ride bikes and fish. What better locale than the Lake Tahoe area.

“All we wanted to do was catch fish and ride our bikes,” said Jorgenson. “We did a lot of the latter. Add in a drivetrain explosion and 15 stitches and things get interesting. Despite a few hiccups, morale was at an all-time high during our three-day, 60-mile bikepacking and fly fishing trip along the Tahoe Rim Trail. The pace was slow and the fish were non-existent, but the good times were plentiful.”

In the end, that’s what mountain biking is all about, enjoying the journey and all the adventure and camaraderie that comes with it.
