American Classic launches the Carbonator, a new carbon mountain bike rim, and delivers updates to their Sprint 350 and Carbon 40 road wheels for 2015.

American Classic President Bill Shook met with us at Interbike 2014 to walk us through the updates to their 2015 mountain bike and road lines.
New for 2015, the Carbonator is a full carbon hookless mountain bike rim aimed at the enduro/all-mountain crowd. Designed to work with tubeless tires, the Carbonator is available in 27.5 and 29-inch sizes, with the 27.5 wheelset weighing in at 1595g. The rims are built wide, measuring 36mm on the outside with a 26mm internal width, and feature a 3.5mm thick sidewall designed to withstand the inevitable impacts of all-mountain riding. All American Classic mountain bike disc wheels use Shimano 11 speed cassettes, making them compatible with both 11-speed road and 11-speed mountain bike groups, while their hubs are convertible for different axles and cassette bodies.
Back for 2015 is the Wide Lightning, an XC race wheel built strong enough for enduro riding. This 512g wheel features a 29.5mm internal rim width and Shook tells us was recently Bike Mag Germany’s #1 pick in the Enduro category.
American Classic’s Sprint 350 is updated for 2015 with a new tubeless rim featuring a 22mm width. The rim on this aluminum road clincher features a CNC brake track and is set up tubeless ready. A complete wheelset tips the scale at 1396g. The new Sprint 350 Tubeless is offered at the same price as its predecessor. MSRP $899.
The all carbon 40mm deep Carbon 40 clincher features a new rim for 2015. The complete wheelset weighs in at 1417g and features an 18-front/24-rear build. The rear uses a 2-to-1 lacing pattern with two spokes on the drive side for every spoke on the non-drive side.
