Crested Butte is a town where the history runs as deep as valleys up into the mountains. The supposed birthplace of mountain biking, and former home to the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, Crested Butte is surrounded by more untamed wilderness than anywhere else in the lower 48. The Crested Butte Ultra Enduro has been years in the making, and finally in 2014 we will experience what all of the locals have been thriving on for years. The Crested Butte Ultra Enduro is the first 5-day backcountry Enduro in North America. Racers will average 28 miles per day, with 5300′ of climbing and 6700′ of descending and culminate the week at Crested Butte Mountain Resort with a day of racing the flowy and rough terrain in Evolution Bike Park. Prior to the Hood River Oregon Enduro Series race, US Editor Daniel Dunn had the opportunity to sit down with Specialized rider Curtis Keene and talk enduro racing in America, kids racing, and the new Red Bull web series.

Not just for the Instagram user Moritz a dream came true as he won the raffle from Specialized. Even for me the last tuesday was a very special day. The Specialized DH Racing team made a stop on the trip from the DH world cup in Fort William to the next race in Leogang a short stop in Holzkirchen / Bavaria. So we had the opportunity to meet Aaron Gwin, Troy Brosnan and Mitch Ropelato, talk with them and go for a nice long Lunch Ride on the trails in front of the bavarian alps – what an honor!
