Back in 2005, the Meta was one of the first bikes you could really call “enduro”. A new generation of bike that could pedal uphill and put a big smile on your face when faced with some serious downhill. Year after year, the Meta just got better and better. The Meta AM V4, the fourth generation of the legendary Meta, aims to do better than its older brother, the Meta AM V3. Not surprisingly the very first goal was to improve global performance and versatility. If there was something to improve, it was pedalling efficiency. Commencal wanted a bike that was more lively & efficient when crankingit hard. Swing a leg over the Meta V4 and there’s no doubt you are on a Commencal. It simply oozes our DNA: an alchemy between fun, performance and aesthetics.

Last Fall, Mark Matthews took a season ending tumble at Rampage that left him with a shattered femur. A crash like that can have riders swearing off riding for good, but not Mark. Taking it as an opportunity to rebuild himself, Mark set out to prove his doctors wrong and get back on the bike before their projected timelines. A disciplined exercise and physio regimen, proper diet and patience put him back in the saddle ahead of schedule in just 6 months. Mark now has a renewed appreciation for riding and a new motivation; to have fun.

Whistler rarely disappoints, and it certainly didn’t this year. The drama unfolded with flats and mechanicals playing their part early and late in the race. A come from behind victory is always sure to please the crowd. New faces at the top of the podium, and hard crashes sending some home early.
