Trickstuff MAXIMA – More powerful than ever
To clarify the question about the most powerful brake once and for all, Trickstuff has something new up its sleeve. We’ve taken a closer look at the first prototype of the Trickstuff MAXIMA, and we’ll show you what the new brake from the Freiburger brand can do.
In our 2018 disc brake group test Trev wrote: “For those who crave pure braking power, the beautifully crafted Trickstuff DIRETTISSIMA is an absolute revelation.” This will not change with the Trickstuff MAXIMA. On the contrary: the new brake from the Freiburger company is said to be 25% more powerful than the DIRETTISSIMA. The team behind Trickstuff wants to set another example with the MAXIMA and end all discussions about the question “which is the most powerful brake?”
To make the MAXIMA so powerful, Trickstuff relies on the oldest laws of physics: leverage. The new brake uses a lever with a slacker angle and slightly different proportions to exert even more pressure on the mineral oil. A lever of this kind already existed some time ago, but was kept under lock and key at that time – too powerful probably ;)
But that’s not all, the Trickstuff MAXIMA features larger pistons and comes with its own brake pads as standard. Moreover, the MAXIMA will only be available with Goodridge steel flex hoses. And all customers of the new Trickstuff MAXIMA will benefit not only from the braking power but also from tool-free lever adjustment. Apart from that, the optical difference between the MAXIMA and the DIRETTISSIMA will be only marginal. We would have liked some kind of special anodization so that even from a distance everyone will know who they’re dealing with. The Trickstuff MAXIMA will only be available for pre-order towards the end of the year. Prices are not yet known, but it’s clear that it will be more expensive than the € 790 DIRETTISSIMA.
