Straight after Valloire the last EWS round, I flew back to New Zealand for a couple of weeks. Coming back to minimal winter daylight hours and cooler temperatures took a bit of adjusting to do. Still being home, local food, familiar training loops and seeing Tory (my wife) again was brilliant. Tory was 9 months pregnant and ready to pop with our first child.

Day 2 at Keystone Resort for Round #3 of the Big Mountain Enduro was another action packed day. Intensity was high and the effects of racing on the most physical, rowdy course, at high altitude, on Day 1, were taking their toll on all competitors. But it’s always the case in racing, especially with this brutal of a course, that nothing is over until the final bell.

With 400 riders on the track and the win going to the national title holder, Nicolas Prudencio (Giant) the 4th round of the National Championship “Santa Cruz Montenbaik Enduro by MTBLab 2014” returned to the Valparaiso Region after seven months.

A breathtaking final has just closed the epic weekend of La Thuile. This first-time involvement of the Aosta Valley venue in the Enduro World Series has been remarkable and the Round run perfectly under all perspectives. The organizing machine worked really well and it nicely brought La Thuile to the finish line of a challenge that started more than one year ago. Starting with the first idea about the event, going throughout all the following phases, as the terrain inspections, the detailed planning and the promotion in the media, the local staff with the help of the Superenduro crew has been able to make the top riders of the mountain-bike enduro meet all together under the Mont Blanc slopes.

Last night I had set myself the task of getting into the top 150 overall at the Enduro World Series in La Thuile, I had everything on my side, Jerome Clementz’s very own race bike, pro team kit and all the support I needed from the Cannondale Overmountain team.
