During the Canyon presscamp in France, we spotted a brand-new backpack on the backs of the Ergon-sponsored team riders. Here are the first details of this intresting, race-specific backpack.
The backpack was developed after feedback frpm the Canyon Factory Enduro Team: On most races, they wished for an smaller backpack than the Ergon BA3.
Injured, but still in a good mood, Fabien Barel presented us with his backpack prototype. The idea: Reduction to the essentials, less weight and a low center of gravity.
The backpack is divided into two parts: Tools and snacks in the upper section, and the hydration bladder below. When racing with both a fullface and an open helmet, a secure fit of the helmet to the backpack is essential. The new, divided design is intended to ensure this.A small compartment has room for a mini pump, tools, snacks and other essential equipment.Important for enduro races: A removable back-protector.The lower part contains a small hydration bladder with a maximum fill of 1.5 liters. The routing of the hose is not final yet and will be optimized for the next prototype level.Back-length adjustment system. The lightweight, well aired waist belt has an small zipper-pocket at the side.Pro Look – this is the backpack of Fabien Barel!
According to Ergon, the new backpack will be officially announced at the Eurobike exhibition, at the moment pro athletes are testing the prototypes and the developers are working on small improvements. We’ll keep you updated!
