Sea Otter 2015 | SUNringlé Mulefüt 50 SL-Wheels
Following the current hype, wheel manufacturer SUNringlé introduced a new plus-size wheelset with an impressive low weight, using new Boost technology as standard.
The new Mulefüt 50SL which have an inner with of 44.4 mm (50 mm outer width) and will be available both in 27.5” and 29”. Much like fat tyres, the center of the rim is cut out to save weight, resulting in an overall weight of just 618 g (27,5”) and 655 g (29”) making the Mulefüt the lightest plus-size rim on the market at the moment.
The rim features the SUNringlé Tubeless Ready-system, which combines low-profile sidewalls with a strong rim hook to keep the tire even in extreme situations.
The pictured wheels run on SRC-hubs, which fit for the new Boost 148 and Boost 110 standards, but will also be available for other sizes.
The freewheel has three retaining claws, resulting in an activation angle of 10 degrees. The hub flange is also oversized, so you can run standard-length spokes. Of course the rear hub is available both for standard driver bodies and for the SRAM XD-driver system.
A nice feature of the hub is the grease: Its special mixture ensures steady performance even at extremely low temperatures. The front hub weighs in at 200 g, the rear hub is at 215 g. RRP for the hubs are $75 (front) and $135 (rear).
The wheelset comes with tripple crossed Wheelsmith DB14-spokes and weights 2220 g in total (2300 g for the 29” version). The front wheel costs $240, the rear one $360.
