Sea Otter 2015 | Bontrager’s New Line Elite Wheels and SE5 Tire

What with the all excitement going on, there was some big news at Sea Otter from Bontrager too. They were keen to show off their new enduro wheelset – the Line Elite TLR – and their new race ready SE5 Team Issue tire.

Line Elite TLR Wheelset

With many brands pushing the new plus sizes, it is east to forget the advantages a wider rim can bring to conventional tyres. Bontrager announced a new 6061 alloy enduro wheelset, designed for conventional 27.5”and 29” tires and also the new 29+ format. The new Line Elite TLR range feature a 28mm internal and 33mm external width for a nice wide tyre profile. All the wheels have interchangeable axle standards and come tubeless ready with included TLR rim tape.

The 29” version will be available in conventional 100 mm x 135/142 mm spacing, or the new 110 mm x 148 mm Boost.

SE5 Team Issue Tire

Bontragers new SE5 Team Issue tire is aimed firmly at the enduro sector – the tubeless ready tire is claimed to mix the durability and strong sidewall needed for racing, with the grip and traction of a DH tyre. Using 61a /50a compounds, the aramid beaded tires weigh 990 and 935 g for the 29” and 27.5” respectively. The tire will come in both 29 x 2.3 and 27.5 x 2.3 sizes and cost $74.99
