SCOTT Genius 2019 – New rear shock and improved spec for more performance
Last year’s version of the SCOTT Genius was a great success and the bike is still extremely popular. With its aggressive geometry and great climbing characteristics it has already managed to take the win in one of our previous trail-bike comparison test. For the new season SCOTT revised and optimized the Genius-concept even further and gifted it with a new especially-developed NUDE TR shock and an improved spec.
Don’t worry SCOTT doesn’t rely on a PullShock this time around. At first glance the new NUDE TR shock looks a bit like the FOX NUDE with twin-loc adjustment that we know from the previous Genius version. The revised shock features an enlarged air chamber for a more sensitive response and an external adjustment knob which allows you to change the rear-end progression without opening the shock — this way you can quickly and efficiently adjust the bike to your liking and adapt it to different riding scenarios.
Alongside the new shock SCOTT has also revised the Twin-Loc lever. Now it’s even slimmer and more ergonomic than the previous version and is ribbed for more grip.
If you ride fast you want to make sure you can stop quickly. However the SRAM Guide / 180 mm-rotor combo used on the previous version of the Genius was pushed to its limits a little too easily by the fast nature of the bike . That’s why SCOTT decided to gift the newest version of the Genius with a powerful four-piston Shimano XT brake for the new season.
