Race Report: Andes Pacifico 2016, Day Two
Day one of the Andes Pacifico 2016 was already thrilling. The second day was no less exciting and we’ve got all the results directly from the organisers.
Again the Andes Mountains was the scenery where mountain bike specialists from all over the world had to deal with extreme conditions as very loose terrain, steep descents and a strong sun.
With only 22 yeards the new rider from Santa Cruz Bicycles, Mark Scott won the second day of Andes Pacifico 2016 with a time of 32:05,2 after 4 special stages that challenge the riders. In second place in the open category, the french Francois Bailly-Maitre did a time of 32:10,7. On third place arrive the Chilean Nico Prudencio with a time of 32:29,9.
In fourth place arrive the winner of the first edition of Andes Pacifico 2014 Jerome Clementz with a time of 32:55,4 – he’s had a flat tire in one of the stages. In fifth place arrive The Chilean Milciades Jaque that is doing a great race and has been one of the surprises of this year.
In Masters, the battle is between two Chileans, Felipe Vasquez and Claus Plaut. Vasquez beat again Plaut by one minute and a half. In third place is the US master champ Michael West that is very consistent behind the two locals.
In the women’s category, Tracy Moseley keeps leading, followed by the Chilean National Champ Florencia Espiñeira and Pauline Dieffenthaler and Claire Bennett. In fifth place is the Dakar rider Josefina Gardulski.

The third day will be the last one in the Andes Mountains and the riders will take some amazing singletrack to the get to the well know “Cajon del Maipo”. Stay tuned for the update tomorrow!
