Pro Bike Check: Hannah Barnes’ Custom Specialized Stumpjumper LT 29

Hannah Barnes rides for Specialized Racing and has always championed adventure, exploration and empowerment. Hannah has shown that with enough passion for adventure it’s possible to make a living from spreading the joy of cycling, becoming an influential ambassador for the superbrand. She also has a very striking custom 160 mm Specialized Stumpjumper LT 29. We checked in with Hannah to take a closer look at her customised hot-pink crystal infused trail bike. If you want to know more about Hannah, we visited her Scottish home to learn more about her life, you can read her story here.

With a travel schedule that takes her all over the globe, Hannah needs a versatile bike, the Stumpjumper LT is the obvious choice.

Hannah’s bike features custom paintwork. After a few Skype calls with Kayla Clarot from Specialized, Hannah came up with this striking design. With crystals hand placed on the inside of the front triangle it certainly stands out

This fender is the Muckynutz Hannah Barnes signature fender. Designed by Hannah a few years ago, with 10% of proceeds going to Songo, a sports and social development program striving to give opportunities to children of South Africa’s townships
Hannah has a SWAT tool in the stem and SWAT door integration. Now 20% bigger inside the frame, Hannah normally stores a tube, tire levers, C02, Dynaplug, snacks, and a small waterproof too. Right now, the frame is home to a few porcupine quills Hannah found on the trail in Israel a couple of weeks ago!
Hannah runs specialized Butcher Grid 2.6 tyres on 29 Roval Traverse SL wheels, the front is a prototype running 21 psi, with 23 psi in the rear. “I love these tyres and are my ‘go to’ year round / all condition tyre, great for rough riding yet fast rolling. I’ve predominantly used these tyres for all trail riding, and have not lost air yet!”
The stem top cap hides a SWAT tool. Hannah runs a Specialized DH S-Works Carbon bar, cut to 740mm with a 38 mm rise
Custom, custom everywhere. Even the water bottle has been personalised
Hannah runs 20% SAG on the FOX 36 Factory Fit4 fork and 30% SAG in the FOX DPX2 rear shock
Hannah runs a SRAM XO carbon crank with 32T chainring and SRAM X0 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain. For pedals Hannah runs the original HT T1T, the now superseded lighter 328g model with a titanium axle. Sadly HT no longer produce a titanium model
Hannah runs SRAM Guide RSC brakes and Specialized grips
Hannah runs an S-Works Power Saddle. After having a bike fit done, this was the saddle that fitted her best. Hannah also runs Body Geometry foot beds, to support her arches and angle her knees out and more centrally
“This bike is the ultimate, most versatile trail bike! I love it!”
