News | The Emerald Enduro is Over! Ireland Declares National Greg Day
The race is over, and what a day it was! Seven long stages lined with screaming, jubilant fans. Ireland put on a mighty show and the side-lines were heaving with fancy dress, cow bells and joyous heckling. The riders were exhausted but all agreed it had been an amazing day.
Everyone was hoping for the fairy-tale finish, an Irish man on the podium, but nobody dared wish that would be the case. There were so many big names that Greg Callaghan would have to slay some serious giants. But like David to the EWS Goliaths, the strong Irishman pulled through to take the win and the crowd just went mental! There will be sure to be a new public holiday in honour of ‘Callaghan Day’!
In the women’s race the stages were physically demanding on the pedals and one woman dominated, Tracy Moseley put a huge 28 seconds into Anne Caro, stamping her authority back on the season overall.
What a mighty introduction for Irish enduro..
