Lapierre Spicy and Zesty AM – A new frame with many clever features

Lapierre’s engineers have developed a new carbon frame and they’re so confident about their new concept that they’ve implemented it in both the Zesty AM trail-bike and the Spicy enduro race-rig. The innovative frame concept is compatible with both 27.5″ and 29″ wheels and offers 140 mm to 170 mm of travel depending on the configuration of the bike.

The brand new Lapierre Spicy

The Lapierre Zesty AM trail bike will be available in four versions at a price ranging between € 2,199 and € 5,499. Bikes with 29″-wheel setups will feature 140 mm of travel while 27.5″-builds will offer 150 mm. Both the spec and the travel of the Lapierre Spicy reveal a strong Race-Enduro orientation. 27.5” versions come with 170 mm of travel and 29” setups come with 160 mm — the same as the Zesty AM. The Spicy will be available in three versions with prices starting at € 2,999 up to € 5,999 for the Team-Replica model.

The name gives it away: the Lapierre Spicy is hot!
Enough room for a spare inner-tube and a multitool
A mud-guard comes as standard and protects the shock against dirt and flying debris
Tire widths of up to 2,5” shouldn’t be a problem
The Spicy is compatible with coil shocks
All cables run inside the frame
Internal cable guides make the installation easier and prevent annoying rattling noises

Lapierre FIT-Program – More than just adapted bar-widths

With the new FIT program Lapierre wants to take ergonomic bike fitting to a whole new level and wheel size is a crucial component in this. Both the Zesty and the Spicy models are only available with 27.5″ wheels in size S. Medium-size frames can be specced with both wheel sizes and L/XL frames are generally only available with 29″ wheels.
The cranks, handlebar-width and seatpost drop increase proportionally to the frame size. The most interesting feature of the FIT program is the variable frame flex which changes depending on the size of the frame. The bigger the bike is the stiffer the frame; this wants to allow heavy and light riders to have the same riding experience.

First impressions

Lapierre’s new Zesty AM and Spicy are based on the same sophisticated frame concept. Made entirely from carbon the frame comes with a number of clever features and is adjusted to each body size. The French are breaking new ground for ergonomics and riding-feel. We can’t wait to test the bikes on the trail.
