Ibis Mojo 4 2021 First Look – The play bike returns with 27.5” wheels and an all-new geometry
Fans of 27.5” wheels listen up! Ibis has just released the Mojo 4. The well-known trail bike features an all-new geometry, rolls on small wheels and features 130 mm travel on the rear. For more information, here’s the official press release.
The word Mojo refers to a magic spell or charm, and –more broadly– a magical power. Since its introduction in 1994, the Mojo has delivered a wicked combination of fun and all-mountain prowess. When Ibis was reborn in 2005, we conjured the first Mojo Carbon. Carbon in a time of aluminum, 5 inches of travel in a time of 3 to 4, unheard of efficiency, all with the uncanny ability to flutter over roots, undisturbed. It was magic. That iconic form and the do it all performance laid the parameters for the modern trail bike. Now the Mojo V4 materializes with advanced geometry and features proven across our product line.
The key facts of the new Ibis Mojo 4
The newest Mojo has 140mm of travel up front, 130mm of cloudlike dw-link efficiency outback, and is every bit the all-rounder it’s always been. But we’ve added Traction Tune to keep the instantaneous, ever-recovering flow of an enduro bike, along with the explosive acceleration of an XC bike. Magic has evolved. We couldn’t forget our big-mountain education, so we added a rock guard to the lower link plus a metal guard on the upper link pivot, to keep that Roxy Lo frame design beautiful for years to come. Speaking of which, the Mojo 4 carries our same 7-year warranty. And with a new bushing lower link, we’ve ensured the right combination of bearings and bushings to make this renowned linkage go the distance, reducing maintenance intervals while increasing stiffness.

The Geometry of the new Ibis Mojo 4
A 76.6-degree, get-you-up-that-hill seat tube angle, our shortest chainstays, and a spacious reach with a 65.4-degree headtube angle. This enchanting combination rolls on 27.5” wheels, to deliver that hoverbike feel with on-trail confidence. Available in four sizes now with lower standover heights and shortened seat tubes for longer dropper posts. Now you can choose your frame based on reach—riders 5-feet tall easily fit on a small and still enjoy a 125mm dropper, while most medium and up riders can enjoy a 185mm. All sizes fit a water bottle, and those looking to go packless can run our aftermarket Pork Chop bag.

For now, we only have information about the dollar prices of the new Mojo 4. The Deore built starts at $ 4,499, the XX1 AXS kit costs $ 10,699. All bikes should be available immediately so reach out to your dealer to find the perfect configuration for your needs.
Our first impression of the all-new Ibis Mojo 4
In our latest group tests where we awarded the best enduro and trail bikes of 2020, we made bold statements, saying the times of small 27.5” wheels are over for the majority of riders. If you’re looking for the best allrounder, we would probably stick with the Ripmo2 or Ripley to take advantage of the smoother and more efficient ride from the bigger wheels. However, if maximum agility is the main reason you choose your bike, or you’re a smaller rider, the smaller 27.5” wheels still offer many advantages and the all-new Ibis Mojo 4 will be very interesting for you. The bike should feature the same build quality and attention to detail of the Ripmo2, packed into a well thought out overall package.
