Exclusive: The all-new Scott Genius LT 2014
Live from the press camp we bring you all the infos about the all-new Scott Genius LT 2014. For 2014 Scott has totally redesigned the Genius LT (= long travel): Instead of a pull-shock-damper the new Genius LT works with a normal rear shock similar to the current Genius from 2013.
27.5″ (650B) wheels and 170 mm of travel on the front an rear are the figures of this new enduro weapon!
The suspension offers the well-known Twinloc-Technology, that allows you to adjust the rear shock and fork at the same time (Open Mode, Traction-Mode, Lock-out).
In the rear there is the new Scott Nude shock that has been developed in cooperation with Fox. It has two separate air-chambers — by switching into the Traction-Mode you’ll close one of them with the result of less SAG, a more progressive characteristic and “only” 135 mm of travel. One further click and you are in Lock-out-Mode.
Rock Shox Reverb Stealth and an internal cable routing provide a very clean look of the bike! What a beauty!
Integrated protection on the down tube.
Syncros components (carbon); the handlebar has a width of 760 mm – we like!
Upper chain guide plus a small lower chain guide, which is attached to the chain stays will hold the chain in place. And …
… SRAMs new X.01 drivetrain! Instead of a carbon crank set you’ll find aluminium!
The new Scott Genius LT will be available in three sizes. The “Tuned-version” is race-ready and optimized on lightweight: Thanks to a full its weight is at 12.3 kg according to Scott. The frame itself weighs 2.450 grams. The Genius LT 10 comes with the front triangle made of carbon and the rear triangle made of aluminium. The Genius LT 20 is completely made of aluminium. Available sizes: Small, Medium and Large.
The first impression of the new Scott enduro is great: Excellent finish, nice details and a good geometry on the paper: A 66.3° head angle (via a chip on the rear shock mounting you can adjust the geometry) and 439 mm long chain stays sound promising – we are keen on testing this bike tomorrow. But now it’s time for a cold beer – cheers!
