Countdown to the UK Enduro National Championship
The UK Nationals are coming, after an admittedly shaky 2016, grassroots UK Enduro racing has never been healthier. From the 28th – 30th April the UK’s best enduro racers will be descending on Graythwaite to battle it out for the prestigious honour of being UK National Champion. With the event also being an EWS qualifier, we may see some real pinners trying to backdoor the complex EWS entry lottery. Here is all you need to know about the event and sweet teaser video!
As racers count down to the National Championships, we take a look at what they are facing. The 3-day event takes many pointers from the Enduro World Series and is a qualifier for the 2018 series. 2 days of practice build up to one big race loop on Sunday. 7 hours on the bike is right up there with EWS events, the 44km loop may not have big mountain long stages but 10 stages keep the fun coming at regular intervals.
The race village, expo, camping and parking are set in the picturesque grounds of Graythwaite Manor, above us stage 10 drops down into the centre of the camp over the frankly obscene “KS Drop” feature. How many people will want to hit the large jump after a 7-hour course we just don’t know luckily there are 2 smaller options as well.
Stages 1, 2, 9 and 10 are all within Graythwaite, we know from last year that this often means push-ups to stage starts but rewarded with steep and techy trails for the downs.
Hosting 6 of the 10 stages Grizedale is a well-established enduro venue but the PMBA Enduro team have mixed it up with never-before-raced trails and fresh cut gold alongside classic stages.
It’s a big day out, why not join in the fun?
