Alutech Fanes 6.0: New Design & NFC-Chip
With the new Fanes 6.0, the team behind Alutech proves that aluminium is far from dead. But Alutech hasn’t only taken its next evolutionary step in terms of design, the integrated NFC chip is also a sign of things to come. All information and details of the new Fanes 6.0 can be found here:
It took more than three years to get the design of the Fanes 6.0 up and running. It was clear that the rear linkage couldn’t be tampered with. The rest, however, was in the hands of the designers. The results are tube shapes that we otherwise only see on carbon frames and probably the most elaborate paint job we’ve ever seen from Alutech.
The new Twinworks Ti3 handlebar comes standard on the high-end “Rayeta” model. All cables disappear into the plastic shells on the handlebars and are then routed through the stem into the frame. The most expensive model also features a carbon rear end which, according to Alutech, saves approx. 600 g in weight.
The geometry of the Alutech Fanes 6.0
Besides the design of the Alutech Fan 6.0, the geometry has been fundamentally revised and tuned even more towards downhill performance. The head angle has been slackened to 65°, and the reach in L has grown to 470 mm. The chainstays can be adjusted from 428 mm to 441 mm thanks to the adjustment option at the dropout, whereby logically the wheelbase too can grow or shrink by 13 mm. Bad news for particularly young or otherwise short riders: Alutech has decided against producing the Fanes 6.0 in XS.

What can the NFC chip of the Fanes 6.0 do?
Design and geometry were not enough for the boys and girls at Alutech. For the icing on the cake, Alutech has integrated an NFC chip at the head tube of the Fanes 6.0. In future, you’ll be able to check maintenance intervals, call up pre-stored suspension settings as well as other data on the bike’s componentry. Thanks to the cooperation with innovation.rocks, you’ll even be able to visualise the data on your smartphone via augmented reality.
Although all future Alutech models will come standard with an NFC chip, a fully functional smartphone app will be a long time coming.
Our impression of the Alutech Fanes 6.0
Both the design and the futuristic NFC chip brought a smile to our face. With all the innovations in eMTBing, it is nice to see that classic mountain bikes aren’t being neglected. We look forward to giving the Alutech Fanes 6.0 a go on the trails.
