| Kopecky and De Bondt take Belgian national titles
Lotte Kopecky and Dries De Bondt are Belgium’s new national road champions.
Kopecky won the women’s race in a two-rider battle at the line in Anzegem against Jolien d’Hoore. Shari Bossuyt rounded out the podium in third.
De Bondt soloed to the win in the men’s race, holding off a chase group to take the victory by six seconds. Iljo Keisse took runner-up honors with Pieter Serry in third.
| Godon wins Paris-Camembert
Dorian Godon took his first pro one-day win on Tuesday at Paris-Camembert.
The 24-year-old Frenchman got clear with Maurits Lammertink and then bested him in a sprint to the line. Nacer Bouhanni crossed the line for third six seconds later.
| Mühlberger signs with Movistar
Gregor Mühlberger will join Movistar next year after five seasons with the Bora-Hansgrohe organization.
The 26-year-old Austrian counts one WorldTour win on his career palmares, a stage victory at the BinckBank Tour, and picked up his first overall win in a stage race earlier this year at the Sibiu Cycling Tour. He has also ridden the past three Tours de France with Bora.
“I’m super happy to have been given this chance by the team to sign with them and profit from all the opportunities that lie ahead in the next few years,” said Mühlberger, who is joining Movistar on a three-year deal. “It’s a good chance to improve my skills and get better in the future, chase some results on both the toughest one-day races and some mountainous one-week races like Dauphiné or Itzulia, but also try to help the leaders as much as I can in the Grand Tours.”
| López set to leave Astana
According to Prosports.kz, Astana manager Alexandre Vinokourov has confirmed the Miguel Ángel López will not return to the team in 2021 as the squad cannot afford to keep him on.
López, who won a stage and finished sixth overall in his debut appearance at the Tour de France this year, has been with Astana since 2015.
| Van Vleuten will decide on Worlds start on Friday
Reigning world road champion Annemiek van Vleuten, who suffered a broken wrist in a crash last week at the Giro Rosa, will decide on Friday whether she will start the road race at Imola Worlds the following day.
In the immediate aftermath of her injury, van Vleuten had expected to miss a potential title defense, but she said that she has been able to “cycle painlessly and also hold my handlebars well” while wearing a brace.
| Some fans will be allowed in the stands at Worlds
Worlds organizers said on Tuesday that some fans will be allowed to attend the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari auto circuit, which hosts the starts and finishes of both the time trials and the road races.
According to a statement, a maximum of 2,246 fans are authorized to watch Worlds from the stands.
| Carapaz will reportedly share Vuelta leadership with Froome
According to El Comercio, 2019 Giro d’Italia champ Richard Carapaz has confirmed that he is planning to race this year’s Vuelta a España.
As Carapaz told El Comercio, “We are going to be co-leader with Chris Froome.”
