It’s been a great weekend for fans of racing as the Women’s Tour Down Under just wrapped up, the Schwalbe Classic Criterium got things underway for the men in Adelaide, and two great World Cup ‘cross battles went down to the wire in Nommay.
The highlights: Ruth Winder is your new women’s TDU champ. Caleb Ewan won his fourth straight TDU crit. Eli Iserbyt and Annemarie Worst triumphed in France.
If you’re after more racing, you’re in luck: WorldTour racing kicks off this week with the first stage of the men’s Tour Down Under on Tuesday.

| Iserbyt and Worst win close battles in Nommay
Eli Iserbyt and Annemarie Worst emerged victorious out of two close races at the Nommay World Cup on Sunday.
Worst battled with Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and Katie Compton through to the end of the women’s race, and she managed to hold on as each of her rivals attacked in the final lap. Worst won the three-rider sprint to take the victory. Alvarado holds onto a narrow lead in the overall World Cup standings with just Hoogerheide left to race.
Iserbyt and Toon Aerts dueled for the men’s victory in a showdown that also went down to the wire. Although Aerts dropped Iserbyt with only a few laps to go, Iserbyt clawed back and then surged to the victory in the last lap. Aerts maintains his series lead.
| Winder wins Women’s Tour Down Under
Ruth Winder wrapped up the overall victory at the women’s Tour Down Under, held on at the top of the standings on Sunday despite the best efforts of her rivals to nab bonus seconds on the final stage. Liane Lippert and Amanda Spratt rounded out the final GC podium.
Simona Frapporti topped Laurens Stephens and Rushlee Buchanan to take the stage 4 win.
| Ewan takes fourth TDU criterium win
Caleb Ewan won the Schwalbe Classic criterium on Sunday, leaving little doubt in a sprint finale.
The 25-year-old Australian hit the line multiple bike lengths ahead of Elia Viviani and Simone Consonni to take his fourth career win in the TDU crit.
| Intxausti retiring
Marca reports that Beñat Intxausti is announcing his retirement on Monday. The Basque climber, who rode for Euskadi Murias in 2019 after several years with Movistar and then Sky, has struggled to match his early results since contracting mononucleosis in 2016.
Intxausti counts two Giro d’Italia stage victories and a Tour of Beijing overall win on his career palmares.
| Katusha Sports and TDU hold charity auction for bushfire relief
Katusha Sports and the Tour Down Under are auctioning off signed jerseys from some big names in an online charity auction to support the New South Wales rural fire service.
