What does the revised racing calendar look like for 2020?
2020 has been anything but a normal year. Coronavirus has turned the world upside down and altered most people’s lives in significant ways. Professional road cycling, too, has felt the effects, with no racing held from early March onwards. But now, racing is about to restart and we’re about to witness three months of solid racing. In fact, it feels like an entire season’s worth of racing has been crammed in between the end of July and mid November when the Tour of Guangxi brings the WorldTour to a close.
The problem is, most races aren’t in their usual timeslots and even the most invested cycling fans aren’t likely to remember which races are coming up, and when. Which is where this article comes in. The table below shows the biggest races you need to know about between now and the end of the 2020 season, for both women and men.
A few notes to help make sense of table:
– The Grand Tours (and associated events) are indicated by the colour of their leader’s jersey — pink for the Giro, yellow for the Tour, red for the Vuelta.
– The Monuments are indicated in light blue.
– The Road World Championships are indicated in light green.

– The Tour de France ends on the same day the Road World Championships start.
– The Giro and Vuelta have six days of overlap.
– There’s a women’s Paris-Roubaix for the first time ever.
– Sunday October 25 is going to be a massive day of racing with the final stage of the Giro, a stage of the Vuelta, and both the men’s and women’s Paris-Roubaix.
– Amstel Gold Race is on a Saturday this year (it’s normally on a Sunday).
– The women’s Madrid Challenge is now three stages long for the first time (up from two).
Enjoy the racing!
