Updated Wahoo TICKR and TICKR X heart rate monitors are smaller yet mightier
Wahoo has announced updates to their existing heart rate monitors, with new versions of two of the brand’s models – the TICKR and TICKR X – available now.
The higher-end TICKR X features internal storage and extra analytics, while the more affordably-priced TICKR is a more traditional heart rate monitor.
Both models now include updated firmware, have slimmed down by 10% and weigh only 48g (pod and strap), claimed to be the lightest heart rate monitor on the market. Wahoo has also increased battery life (CR2032) from 350 hours to 500 hours on each, and their pairing capabilities allow you to simultaneously pair up to three Bluetooth devices, as well as supporting ANT+ connections.
Included in the slimmed-down design of both models is a new placement of Wahoo’s LED lights. The LEDs have been moved to the top of the pod body making it easier for users to glance down and confirm connectivity.
Conveniently, the TICKR X can also store up to 50 hours of workout data – up from 16 hours in the former iteration – which will sync to your smartphone via the Wahoo Fitness app. This allows you to leave your phone at home and sync it when you have returned. The updated TICKR X independently offers the ability to transmit indoor cycling cadence to the Wahoo Fitness app.
For cyclists that also run, TICKR X is now capable of transmitting what Wahoo calls “enhanced running dynamics” to compatible smartwatches via ANT+, giving runners real-time access to their cadence, vertical oscillation, and ground contact time.
