Udog announces more traditional Cima lace-up road shoes
Hot on the heels of Udog’s debut road shoe, the Tensione, comes a second model with a somewhat more traditional aesthetic called Cima.
The Cima is a lace-up shoe like the Tensione, but it does away with the latter’s more unusual Tension Wrap System webbing that wraps around the rider’s midfoot area. Instead, the Cima sports a more complicated knit upper with three distinct patterns and two different yarns. Combined with the fit variations that are already available in any lace-up shoe, the idea here is to help provide zonal support that can be more custom tuned to suit each individual rider.

Breathability is also said to be extremely good, and Udog says the material is “super fast drying” in case you’re caught in a sudden downpour.
What really sets the Cima apart from other lace-ups, however, is the clever Pocket Tongue design — basically a little tongue extension with a small pocket for the lace ends that’s designed to fold down and tuck under an elastic strap for a very clean and tidy exterior.

All of this is attached to a carbon composite plate with slotted cleat holes, flow-through ventilation channels under the forefoot, and co-molded TPU heel and toe treads.
Interestingly, Udog is billing these as a “climber’s shoe”, although they’re not actually all that light with a pair of size 43 samples tipping the scales at 546 g with insoles — slightly heavier than the Tensione, in fact. That may not be all that feathery, but initial impressions are that they’re very comfy with good heel hold and a refreshingly squared-off toe box that leaves plenty of room for your piggies to wiggle around.
Udog is offering the Cima in two colors — “Salt White” and all-black — and sizes from 38-46 (although, like the Tensione, there are unfortunately no half-sizes available).
Retail price is US$300.
