Trek-Segafredo to donate Strade Bianche prize money to women’s cycling projects
Elisa Longo Borghini and her Trek-Segafredo teammates have announced that they will be donating their prize money from Strade Bianche to support projects within women’s cycling.
Following the great prize money debate of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, fans raised €26,668 for the women’s prize purse for Strade Bianche. The money is to be given directly to the top 5 riders of the opening WorldTour event of 2021.
Elisa Longo Borghini, who finished second at Strade Bianche behind Chantal van den Broek-Blaak, announced that her team will be donating all the crowd-funded prize money to support the women’s movement in cycling.
On this special day we – my @TrekSegafredo teammates and I- have decided to make a new step in the long road for women's empowerment in sport.
