Tour de France Femmes proves TV hit as viewing figures released

After more than 22 hours of live television coverage, the viewing figures of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift have been revealed.

The eight stages captured, on average, a quarter of the French television audience, a total of 2.25 million viewers across the channels France 2 and France 3 and a total of 20 million people watching across the entire race.

The peak was 5.1 million viewers, a 45.6% audience share, for the finish atop La Super Planche des Belles Filles where Movistar’s Annemiek van Vleuten was crowned the overall winner.

Outside of the host nation, 75 million hours of live broadcast was beamed into seven European countries, showing the power the Tour de France has to get people to watch bike racing. Eurosport reached 14 million viewers and a massive 45% of the Netherlands TV audience was tuned into the exploits of their riders Van Vleuten and Marianne Vos.

Online videos from official Tour de France accounts were viewed 22 million times, getting the word out about the race digitally. The top video, of course, was Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig’s stage 3 victory.
