Tom Dumoulin is one of seven cyclists on the Netherland’s Olympic vaccination list

Tom Dumoulin has been added to the list of seven Dutch cyclists eligible to receive a pre-Olympic vaccination, WielerFlits reports. The Dutch Olympic Committee and the Dutch Sports Federation, also known as the NOC * NSF, will begin vaccinating Olympic athletes on Monday, April 26.

Dumoulin took a step away from professional racing earlier this season. He announced at a pre-season Team Jumbo-Visma training camp that he had been thinking about taking a break for some time and together with his team had decided to go ahead with a rest. The last time Dumoulin took to the start line of a race was stage 7 of the Vuelta a España in 2020.

Although selections for the Netherland’s Olympic team have not been made it appears Dumoulin might be returning to racing just in time.

“I cannot make any statements about the vaccination list because it is covered by medical secrecy,” said national team coach Koos Moerenhout. “There is also no final selection for Tokyo. I have not written off Tom Dumoulin for the Olympic Games yet. As far as I am concerned, he still has a chance to compete in the road race and time trial. I recently had contact with him and discussed this with him. However, Tom is not yet ready to make a decision about his future. The most important thing is that he takes that decision in peace and that I give him plenty of time for that. ”

Dumoulin was spotted at the side of the road at the Amstel Gold Race recently, rocking a leather jacket. The former time trial world champion appeared to be enjoying the race from the sidelines.
