The GOAT is back: Vos is set to debut her CX rainbow jersey on Tuesday, but first, gravel

One month after seeing her teammate to a second road world champs victory with a last-minute flyer, Marianne Vos has made a triumphant return to bike racing at the second-ever Dutch national gravel championships, adding yet another jersey to her glittering palmarès.

Due to debut her CX rainbow jersey at Nacht van Woerden on Tuesday night, October 25 – a race she’s won twice before – Vos made the late decision to line up in Epe this weekend to stretch the legs in competition for the first time since returning from Australia.

“That was a last-minute decision, but I’m really looking forward to it,” Vos said before the race. “A national championship is always unique, and this one works out really well in terms of planning. It’s the ideal preparation for my first cyclocross race of the season.”

That she soloed to victory on the rough stuff on Saturday will surprise no one as the 35-year-old plots a course for another short and sweet winter campaign, her first major target being the European Championships in Belgium next month.

In the meantime, Vos will make her first World Cup appearance at Maasmechelen, Limburg, on October 30, the fourth of 14 rounds and the second on European soil – the World Cup continues on Sunday in Tábor with what’s expected to be another thrilling showdown.

“As evidenced by recent weeks, the level is high. The competition is on edge,” Vos said of the blockbuster opening races of the cyclocross season.

When to catch the GOAT in action:

October 30 – World Cup Maasmechelen
