No, that headline isn’t a typo. Less than a week after Phil Gaimon broke the Everesting record, American mountain bike champ Keegan Swenson set a new fastest time.
Making the effort on a steep climb in Utah on Friday, Swenson ascended 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) of elevation in seven hours, 40 minutes, and five seconds to best Gaimon’s time of 7:52:12 by just over 12 minutes.
Impressive, to say the least—and we’re loving the growing intrigue around the record. We’ll keep you posted as more big names look to tackle the challenge…

| Swenson sets a new Everesting record
Keegan Swenson, the reigning US cross-country mountain bike champ, set a new fastest Everesting record on Friday in Utah.
Over the course of 29 trips up (and down) a section of the Pine Canyon Rd. climb in Midway, Utah, the 26-year-old ascended 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) in an impressive 7:40:05 to best Phil Gaimon’s time of 7:52:12.
| Ineos: Froome ‘will stay with us in 2020’
While recent rumors have suggested that Chris Froome is in talks with various teams about a possible mid-season transfer from Ineos, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ineos plans on keeping Froome this year.
For any transfer to occur, Froome would need to come to an agreement with Ineos, as he remains under contract until the end of the season. According to La Gazzetta, however, a source in the team said that “he will stay with us in 2020.”
| Uran: It will be a more open Tour
Rigoberto Urán is focused on the Tour de France this year, and he’s expecting the racing hiatus that has kept contenders out of competition for months now to have an impact on the outcome.
“Surely [it will be] a bit more open because obviously the calendar changed for all of us, we are going in with fewer races in the legs,” Urán said in an interview with Marca. “It will certainly be an interesting Tour, the most important thing is to await to see if it happens.”

Mountain bike world champ Pauline Ferrand-Prévot plans to keep racing for a while yet, but she has suggested that retirement following the 2024 Olympics in Paris could be a possibility.
“I would then be 32 years old, which is still relatively young,” she told RTBF. “Then I want to build a quieter family life, having children. A farewell in Paris would be a nice end of the career.”
