Salsa Cycles announces recall of Cutthroat adventure bike fork

Salsa Cycles has today announced a recall affecting its popular Cutthroat do-it-all drop-bar adventure bikes, as well as bare Cutthroat framesets and Cutthroat Carbon Deluxe aftermarket forks. According to the official recall notice, the forks “can crack or break, which could result in a crash.”

Approximately 700 forks from the 2020 model year are affected in total, all sold between September 2019 and September 2020 in the United States and Canada, and with fork serial numbers that begin with “G”. According to the recall notice, Salsa is currently aware of seven cracked forks, none of which have resulted in any injuries. It’s unclear at this point whether Cutthroats sold in other regions are also subject to the recall.

Affected customers are advised to stop riding those bikes immediately, and to take them to an authorized Salsa dealer for fork inspection and/or replacement.

Additional information can be found online at www.salsacycles.com, by phone at +1 877-774-6208, or via email at support@salsacycles.com.

Salsa hasn’t specified exactly what the issue is with the recalled forks, but no matter what the defect is, a broken fork rarely results in a good time. Please take this recall notice seriously.
