Primoz Roglic won the lone time trial at the 2020 Vuelta a España on Tuesday, moving into the red jersey in the process.

The overall defending champion covered the 33.7-kilometer stage 13 in a time of 46:39 to narrowly beat out Will Barta by a single second for the stage victory, with Nelson Oliveira 10 seconds back in third on the day. The win was Roglic’s fourth so far in this Vuelta.

Roglic’s ride propelled him into the race lead, with Richard Carapaz dropping to second overall, although the margins at the top of the GC standings remain tight, with Carapaz, Hugh Carthy, and Dan Martin all delivering solid rides on the day.

Carapaz was 49 seconds slower than Roglic on the day in seventh and now sits 39 seconds back on GC. Carthy was particularly impressive, finishing fourtha at 25 seconds back, putting him 47 seconds down in the general classification. Martin was 1:17 down on the day and is now 1:42 back on GC.
