Rapha reveals new waterproof jackets in collaboration with Gore-Tex

Rapha is going out into the elements this fall thanks to a new partnership with Gore-Tex. Using Gore-Tex fabrics, Rapha has created three new waterproof cycling jackets designed for harsh weather: the Pro Team Lightweight Gore-Tex Jacket (US$295 / AU$385 / €260 / £220), the Pro Team Insulated Gore-Tex Jacket (US$430 / AU$540 / €375 / £320), and the Explore Gore-Tex Pullover Jacket (US$345 / AU$430 / €300 / £250).

The Pro Team Lightweight Gore-Tex Jacket and Explore Gore-Tex Pullover are also available in women’s cuts. The Pro Team Lightweight and Insulated Gore-Tex Jackets are available in black for both men and women, and the Explore Hooded Gore-Tex Pullover is available in Dark Navy, Plum, and Dark Yellow for men, and Dark Navy for women.

“The collaboration of Rapha with Gore-Tex product technologies, beginning in Fall 2019, is an exciting partnership opportunity for two brands with strong legacies in technical products,” said Rick Macdonald, European Sales Leader at the W. L. Gore & Associates Fabric Division. “The collections will feature Gore’s innovative, forward-thinking approach to what is possible in road cycling fabric technology.”

The Pro Team Lightweight Gore-Tex Jacket is Rapha’s lightweight and packable model which utilizes the Gore-Tex ShakeDry fabric. The Pro Team Insulated Gore-Tex Jacket features ShakeDry as well but is also backed with PolarTec Alpha, a lightweight synthetic insulation developed for the US military.

This isn’t Rapha’s first time using PolarTec Alpha — the material is used to insulate some of the brand’s other jackets like the Pro Team Insulated Jacket, Brevet Insulated Jacket, Pro Team Insulated Gilet, and more. The Explore Gore-Tex Hooded Pullover uses Gore-Tex Active lightweight three-layer fabric. This pullover is meant to be a more relaxed fit for use on and off the bike.

As you might expect, the new waterproof gear also features taped seams, venting, reflective logos, and elastic cuffs.

“Rapha and the Gore-Tex brand have always been at the forefront of technical product innovation,” said Alex Valdman, Creative Director at Rapha. “This partnership is just the beginning of our joint efforts into long-term, leading-edge product development. Gore-Tex [is] a crucial ‘ingredient’ in waterproof clothing for extreme conditions and we’re confident Rapha + Gore-Tex jackets will withstand the wettest of weathers.”
