As the week comes to a close, Nairo Quintana is recovering after being hit by a car while training.
Fortunately, the two-time Grand Tour winner managed to avoid serious injury. The collision left Quintana with scrapes and bruises to his elbow, thigh, and knee, and he underwent medical checks to determine whether any of his injuries might affect his training, but he said on social media that he was doing okay.
Here’s hoping Quintana is able to get back on the bike soon.

| Quintana hit by car while training
Nairo Quintana was hit by a car while training on Friday, sustaining scrapes and bruises but fortunately avoiding serious injury.
According to a post from the local mayor’s office, a driver had performed an “improper maneuver,” colliding with Quintana. The 30-year-old explained on social media that he had been knocked over after being hit by the car’s mirror. He noted that he was “waiting on some tests to rule out any injury that might affect me in my preparation” but said that he was doing okay.

VeloNews reports that Ian Garrison was unable to board a flight to Europe to take part in his Deceuninck-Quick-Step team’s training camp.
The 22-year-old American was trying to fly from Atlanta to Amsterdam, but with no visa or European residency, he was turned away by officials.
“This year was my first year I was planning to be over there full-time,” he told VeloNews. “I was going to be based in Girona and then ended up coming back once all the corona stuff started. I was just in the process of getting a visa and then I came back home – so I don’t have one yet.”
| Bugno rejects criticism of CPA
Amid a rift between hundreds of riders and the Cyclistes Professionnels Associés (CPA), CPA president Gianni Bugno defended the organization in an open letter sent to riders.
“In order to avoid any misunderstanding, I kindly ask you to keep yourselves informed and not to believe the lies which are spread by individuals who do not know the facts, who are trying to discredit what we do for the riders, and who put their own interests before yours,” Bugno said.
“If there is something that is not clear or if you have any doubts about our actions, there is no need to draw up petitions.”
| British national championships called off
British cycling has called off multiple events for 2020, including road and mountain bike nationals, amid coronavirus concerns.
“Following consultation with teams and event organizers, we do not believe it is possible to this year hold national series and national championships in disciplines which take place in the spring and summer months,” read a statement from British Cycling.
The organization left open the possibility that cyclocross and track nationals could go forward “later this year and in early 2021.”
