Prosecutor seeks six-month suspended sentence for Alexandre Geniez on domestic violence charges

Alexandre Geniez (TotalEnergies) was in court in Rodez, France, on Wednesday on charges of domestic violence, France Info reports. A prosecutor has asked for a six-month suspended sentence for the Frenchman.

Geniez’s wife Lucie Garrigues has accused him of instances of violence and threats. According to the report, in one incident, Geniez is alleged to have thrown a phone at Garrigues and threatened her. Garrigues alleges that another incident occurred 10 days after that.

She provided medical certificates in connection with her accusations, with one documenting the treatment of a frontal hematoma and another documenting the treatment of a forearm hematoma.

Geniez, 33, admitted to throwing his cell phone and making threats but denied any other incidents of violence.

A ruling is expected on March 2.

Geniez is set to retire at the end of this season.
