This past weekend, the planet’s best crosscountry and downhill MTBers converged on Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, for the 2019 Mountain Bike World Championships. Headlining the five-day carnival were the elite men’s and women’s crosscountry races.
In the men’s event, Swiss maestro Nino Schurter won his eighth XC world title, finishing 30 seconds clear of compatriot Mathias Flückiger. Frenchman Stephane Tempier finished third, another eight seconds back.
In the women’s race, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot completed her comeback from iliac artery surgery earlier this year to take her second XC world title. Jolanda Neff was second, at 43 seconds, while Australia’s Rebecca McConnell took the bronze, at 1:17.
