Peter Sagan is taking on Unbound Gravel

Peter Sagan has announced that he will ride Unbound Gravel 2022 on June 4 with TotalEnergies teammate Daniel Oss.

Sagan has chosen to ride the 100-mile version of next weekend’s event, which will see him gain 5,270 feet (1,606 m) of elevation over 167 km through the Flint Hills of Kansas. Although he’s no stranger to gravel, his own Gran Fondo featuring several sectors, Unbound Gravel is his first true gravel race.

He made the announcement alongside Specialized, who Sagan has worked closely with for years. The American bike brand followed him to TotalEnergies, and he’s been the face of the marketing campaigns for a number of bikes, including for the gravel-specific Diverge.

The three-time road world champion has been training at altitude in Park City, Utah, and the trip to Kansas will bring an end to this training block. The day after Unbound, Sagan will return to Europe to prepare for his summer objectives which includes his first Tour de France with Team TotalEnergies.
