Nacer Bouhanni suffers concussion in crash while training
Nacer Bouhanni suffered a concussion in a crash while training on Thursday in Spain, his Arkéa-Samsic team said.
According to Arkéa-Samsic, the 31-year-old Frenchman experienced a “slight loss of consciousness.” He was taken to a hospital in Benidorm, and “stitches were placed on his brow bone.”
Bouhanni has since “undergone further examinations at Benidorm hospital and has a concussion with headaches.”
Arkéa-Samsic did not provide further information on Bouhanni’s recovery. He had been slated to get his 2022 campaign underway at the Saudi Tour, which gets underway on February 1; how the injuries he sustained in his crash will affect his program this season is not yet known.
Looking further ahead, Bouhanni had planned to make a handful of race starts to build toward Milan-San Remo, with an eye towards Tour de France stages later in the season.
