My Bike: Leah Thomas’ Team Movistar Canyon
Welcome to another That’s My Bike. In this episode, I chat with the new Movistar signing Leah Thomas.
Joining a new team for the 2021 season brings with it not just new teammates, new challenges and a fresh start, but a new team bike and new equipment. In this case, it’s a Canyon Ultimate (she gets her Aeroroad later in the season and yes we know that’s an Aeroad in the thumbnail shot, sorry). At Movistar, the women’s team gets exactly the same setup as the men’s team, from clothing sponsors through to the equipment that the bike is decked out in.
This season Leah is back on Sram after a few years away from it.
The bike’s running kit is, of course, SRAM’s top-end groupset, the Red AXS eTAp. Wheels are from SRAM’s sister brand Zipp. For training, she’s on the US company’s 302 wheelsets, (that even still have the old logos, what a downgrade!) These are wrapped in rubber from the long-time tyre sponsor of the Movistar team, Continental’s GP 5000.
Finishing out the bike components are Keo Blade pedals from Look, a product Leah’s never used before but claims she’s getting on well with. And finally, keeping her comfy is a Fizik saddle – just don’t ask her what model of perch it is; she’ll learn that for the next vid I’m sure.
Like every other video in this series, I’ve nagged the participant to film their own bike. Leah was kind enough to get the hose out and get the bike looking 100% showroom-ready. Luckily for us, Leah isn’t as rapid with her shots as Toms was in our last episode – sorry Toms to call you out, mate.
