Bauke Mollema will ride on with Trek-Segafredo through 2022, his team announced Monday, marking a contract renewal that will extend his stint at the squad through its eighth year.

“We have enjoyed great moments together over the past years, but I still have great ambitions, and so does the team,” the 33-year-old Dutchman said in a press release. “The team’s current performance structure gives me the confidence that I can continue to develop and challenge myself as a rider. I’m happy to renew with Trek-Segafredo for another two years, and I’m certain that once we’re racing again, we’ll continue to be successful,” said Mollema.

Mollema joined Trek in 2015 after spending his entire pro career within the Rabobank organization. After first showing promise as a Grand Tour racer with a GC podium finish at the 2011 Vuelta a España, Mollema has been a consistent presence in Grand Tour top 10s while also racking up a handful of notable victories during his time at Trek.

Since joining the squad, Mollema’s biggest results have included a Tour stage (on Mont Ventoux, no less), a Clásica San Sebastián title, and his biggest one-day victory, a Monument win at last year’s Il Lombardia.

“Bauke is a pillar for Trek-Segafredo. He has consistently delivered solid results, and the win in Lombardia was the cherry on the cake,” said team manager Luca Guercilena. “We believe Bauke’s style of racing perfectly matches the team spirit, which is to always, ‘fight, fight, fight!’ This is one of the key reasons we want him with us for the next years, to keep this momentum, to perform, to win, and to be a role model for our younger riders. Bauke is one of Trek-Segafredo’s flagship riders, and we are proud to have him representing our team in the foreseeable future.”

The team’s announcement of the news also included details on Mollema’s planned schedule for 2020, confirming that he will be a co-leader for Trek at the Tour while also targeting the Ardennes Classics and stage wins at the Vuelta a España.
