Mo Wilson murder suspect has apparently fled to New York
Footage has emerged of Kaitlin Armstrong, who is wanted by police as the murder suspect in the fatal shooting of Moriah ‘Mo’ Wilson, fleeing Texas three days after the shooting.
Security tapes from May 14 show Armstrong in Austin airport at approximately 12:30 p.m. Investigators believe she boarded a flight to Houston Hobby Airport and then a connecting Southwest Airlines flight to New York LaGuardia Airport.
Armstrong, who is a yoga teacher, can be seen in the footage carrying just a backpack and a yoga mat as she walks through the airport.
An arrest warrant was issued for Armstrong last week in connection with the shooting of 25-year-old Wilson on May 11 in a home in Austin, Texas. The charge is murder in the 1st degree.
Until now, Armstrong had not been seen since May 13, two days after the shooting, when she was taken into custody on an unspecified misdemeanor warrant that was not valid. Armstong was therefore free to leave.
The 34-year-old is the partner of fellow gravel racer Colin Strickland, who the police affidavit details as being with Wilson the evening before the night she was killed.
Stickland has not been implicated in the crime and is not currently sought by law enforcement. Specialized, one of Strickland’s sponsors, confirmed to CyclingTips that it had terminated its contract with him and that he would no longer be a sponsored athlete for the brand. Other sponsors, including Rapha, Enve, and The Meteor have also terminated their deals with the rider.
On May 14, an anonymous caller contacted Austin Police Department, claiming she had been with Armstrong in January 2022 when Armstrong had just discovered Strickland was still in a romantic relationship with Wilson. According to the caller, Armstrong told her she was so angry she wanted to kill Wilson.
In Texas, a first-degree murder felony can be a capital offence, punishable by the death penalty.
