Liane Lippert solos to Cadel’s Race victory in miserable conditions

GEELONG, Australia (CT) – Liane Lippert (Sunweb) has soloed to a breakthrough victory at the 2020 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

In miserable conditions, the 22-year-old German attacked from a select lead group in the closing kilometres through Geelong and opened a small gap. Despite a strong chase from defending champion Arlenis Sierra (Astana) and 2016 winner Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton-Scott), Lippert was able to hold on to the line to take the first Women’s WorldTour victory of her career.

Lippert’s win comes after finishing second overall at the recent Women’s Tour Down Under.
