Keegan Swenson wins men's Leadville Trail 100
Reigning US XC champion Keegan Swenson came within two minutes of a course record on his way to victory at the Leadville Trail 100 on Saturday, finishing in 6:00:01 to defend his title from 2021.
Swenson finished 14 minutes ahead of John Gaston of Aspen, Colorado and Rio Olympian Howard Grotts finished third, another minute behind.
Gaston is a member of US Skimo team, a sport that combines elements of cross country and downhill skiing.
The course record stands at 5:58:35, set by Alban Lakata in 2015.
Swenson won Crusher in the Tushar earlier this year and finished second at Unbound Gravel behind Ivar Slik.
