Julian Alaphilippe will ride on with Deceuninck-QuickStep through 2024

Deceuninck-QuickStep has announced another extension for one of its star riders. After signing Remco Evenepoel to a long-term deal last week, the Belgian team announced on Thursday that reigning world champion Julian Alaphilippe has signed a deal to stay on through 2024.

Alaphilippe has ridden with the organization for the entirety of his pro career, making his WorldTour debut with the then Omega Pharma-QuickStep team back in 2014. Since then, he has become one of the squad’s biggest stars, taking a Monument victory at Milan-San Remo in 2019, five Tour de France stages over the past three years, the 2020 world title, and several other major victories as well.

His new deal will keep him with Deceuninck-QuickStep through his 11th year with the Belgian WorldTour squad.

“I’m very happy to extend my stay with the team. It was the logical thing to do, and at no moment there was the question of doing anything different,” Alaphilippe said in a press release from the team.

“I look forward to continuing with this family and I want to say thank you to Patrick [Lefevere, team manager] and the sponsors for the confidence they have shown in these eight years and continue to show. It’s incredible to think of what we achieved together and all the beautiful memories we have. We are the Wolfpack and we race to win. It’s our mentality and one of our strengths, we all go in the same direction, and this is one of the reasons I feel good here and do what I do with immense pleasure. I am looking forward to more great results with Deceuninck-QuickStep this season and in the coming years.”
