Hello again, CyclingTips readers.
Nearly a week after the sprint crash at the Tour of Poland that left Fabio Jakobsen seriously injured, Deceuninck-Quick-Step has provided another update with some encouraging news for the Dutch sprinter. According to the team, Jakobsen’s “condition is evolving favorably,” and he is set to be transferred to a hospital in his home country, the Netherlands.
Jakobsen still has a difficult road ahead, but the news is a welcome sign to be sure.
In other news, Il Lombardia has been shortened by 12 kilometers and AG2R has brought on even more riders to bolster its Classics lineup.

| Jakobsen set for transfer to the Netherlands
Deceuninck-Quick-Step has announced that Fabio Jakobsen will be transferred from the hospital in Poland where he has been since the crash that left him seriously injured to a hospital in his home country of the Netherlands.
The team said on Tuesday that “Fabio Jakobsen’s condition is evolving favourably, to the extent that he will be transferred Wednesday to the hospital in Leiden, the Netherlands (LUMC), where further follow-up treatment of his injuries will take place.”
| AG2R continues to bolster its roster with signings of Marc Sarreau and Damien Touzé
A day after announcing that Greg Van Avermaet and Michael Schär will join the team in 2021, AG2R La Mondiale announced Tuesday that Marc Sarreau and Damien Touzé will be coming aboard as well.
The new arrivals should further bolster AG2R’s Classics lineup, which is already looking quite strong with Oliver Naesen already on the team and Van Avermaet and Schär now coming aboard. Sarreau, who has spent his entire WorldTour career with the Groupama-FDJ organization, enjoyed a breakthrough 2019 campaign, winning Paris-Bourges, the Tour de Vendée, and other one-day races. Touzé, a promising youngster currently riding for Cofidis, made a name for himself with a handful of strong results as a U23 rider.
| Il Lombardia shortened
Il Lombardia has been shortened by 12 kilometers as organizers made a small change to the route by cutting out a section of riding around Lecco near the midpoint of the event.
The changes do not take any of the major climbs out of the route, but Saturday’s race will now run a total of 231 kilometers, making it the shortest edition of Il Lombardia since all the way back in 1960.

Speaking of Il Lombardia, Sunweb has named its lineup for the Italian Monument, with Wilco Kelderman and Michael Matthews headlining the squad.
Also set to attend are Nico Denz, Chad Haga, Chris Hamilton, Jai Hindley, and Florian Stork.
