Hello again, CyclingTips readers.
Tuesday’s headlines featured transfer news, race results, and Tour roster talk, in addition to an update from Fabio Jakobsen, who has spoken publicly for the first time since his horrific crash at the Tour of Poland.
In a statement on his Deceuninck-Quick-Step team’s website, Jakobsen talked about the difficult experience of spending time in the ICU, thanked doctors for saving his life, and provided an update on the recovery ahead.
In other news, AG2R announced yet another big signing amid a very busy transfer period for the team, whose roster will sure look different next season as the team says farewell to Romain Bardet and Pierre Latour but welcomes Greg Van Avermaet, Michael Schär, Lilian Calmejane, and others.
Bob Jungels will join the squad on a two-year deal in a move that bolsters AG2R’s lineup for next year even further. The versatile Jungels, who won Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2018, will be an asset for his new team in both the Classics and in stage races.

| AG2R signs Bob Jungels
AG2R has made yet another notable move in a very busy transfer season for the team, signing Bob Jungels to a two-year deal. Luxembourg’s reigning national road and time trial champ and the winner of Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Jungels has been with Deceuninck-Quick-Step since 2016.
His signing will give AG2R yet another strong rider for a Classics squad that already has Oliver Naesen and will also add Greg Van Avermaet and several overs next year. Jungels, a two-time Grand Tour top 10 finisher, will also be a featured rider for his new team in the three-week races.
| Jakobsen speaks publicly for the first since his crash at the Tour of Poland
Fabio Jakobsen has spoken publicly for the first time since the Tour of Poland crash that left him seriously injured earlier this month.
In a statement posted to Deceuninck-Quick-Step’s website, the Dutch national road champ thanked doctors, discussed the immediate fear he felt after the crash, and the injuries he sustained.
“Hereby, I want to let everyone know that I am very grateful that I am still alive. All the messages and words of support have given me tremendous strength. Step by step I can slowly look to the future, and I will fight to recover.”
| NTT unveils its Tour de France lineup
The NTT team has named its starting eight for the upcoming Tour de France, with several fast finishers featured its stage-hunting focused roster.
Giacomo Nizzolo, Max Walscheid, Ryan Gibbobs, and Edvald Boasson Hagen will give the squad options for the sprints at the upcoming Tour. NTT will also have the versatile Michael Valgren and Michael Gögl for the hillier stages, while Domenico Pozzovivo and Roman Kreuziger give the team a pair of veteran climbers for the race.
| Vlasov and Uttrup Ludwig win at the Giro dell’Emilia
Alexandr Vlasov and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig rode to victories on Tuesday at the Giro dell’Emilia.
In the women’s race, Uttrup Ludwig jumped clear on the final San Luca climb and held on to take the solo win. Rasa Leleivyte crossed the line for runner-up honors 11 seconds later with Pauliena Rooijakkers finishing on the same time to round out the podium.
In the men’s race, Vlasov, fresh off a podium performance at Il Lombardia, powered away from a select group on the San Luca climb with a little under two kilometers left to race. He caught and passed lone escapee João Almeida and rolled across the line solo to take the victory, with Almeida in second on the day and Diego Ulissi taking third.
| Bennett wins stage 3 of the Tour de Wallonie
Sam Bennett sprinted to victory on the third stage of the Tour de Wallonie, topping a strong field of fast finishers in Visé.
The stage came down to a sprint after a late move that included Greg Van Avermaet and Zdenek Stybar was caught inside the last kilometer. Bennett proved fastest in the final push, taking a clear win ahead of Arnaud Démare and John Degenkolb. Démare leads the race with one stage to go.
