Hunt launches 48 & 60 Limitless UD Carbon Spoke Disc Wheelsets
Today the UK-based, Hunt Bike Wheels announced two new additions to its Limitless range: the Hunt 48 & 60 Limitless UD Carbon Spoke Disc. Both were developed to meet the technical requirements of Hunt’s supported road racing teams and are now available for all riders. By introducing UD Carbon Spokes and utilising the Sprint SLC hubset, the wheels are designed to provide complete, all-around performance: aerodynamic efficiency and crosswind stability, with added responsiveness and lower system weight.
Debuted in 2019, Hunt integrated the properties of aerodynamics and lightweight by harnessing the company’s proprietary and patented Limitless Technology and applying the shape and construction method to multiple profiles designed for road and gravel disciplines. Limitless Technology, developed by in-house Hunt engineers, utilises a co-moulded low-density polymer (density of 0.7g/cm3 vs. carbon fibre pre-preg of 1.6g/cm3) in the outer rim construction to achieve an extra-wide profile (optimised for modern wide tyres) while keeping the overall rim weight low. The result is a supremely aerodynamic wheel with stable, predictable handling characteristics, especially in turbulent crosswind scenarios. Paraphrasing feedback from Hunt’s supported riders, Limitless wheels feel fast like a much deeper wheel in terms of all-out speed, but handle like a shallower wheel.
Hunt first launched UD Carbon Spoke wheelsets in late 2019, utilizing the now-proven TaperLock carbon spoke technology. The TaperLock system offers riders fully serviceable carbon-spoked wheels that can be trued like any other. With significant increases in power transfer, they have been engineered to provide a responsiveness-to-weight ratio previously unseen on serviceable wheels.

Key Details
- The addition of UD carbon spokes helps reduce the weight of the wheelsets by almost 100g compared to their steel spoke equivalents.
- Hunt wind tunnel tested its new 48 and 60 Limitless UD Carbon Spoke Disc wheelsets against the original steel spoke version, as well as a relevant competitive set. Compared to the steel spoke counterparts, both the 48 and 60 Limitless UD Carbon Spoke Disc wheelsets perform very similarly (within the margin of error for standardised wind tunnel testing), suggesting there is no material aerodynamic penalty associated with the bladed UD Carbon Spokes. - All-new Sprint SLC hubs add strength and enhance power transfer. The hub shell is made from cold-forged 7075 aluminium alloy, offering a greater strength-to-weight ratio than other alloys.
