Gallery: The Cobbled Classics begin with a wet and muddy Gent-Wevelgem
The Cobbled Classics look a little different in 2020. For starters they’re being held around six months later than normal, plus there’s noticeably fewer of them than normal. E3 Harelbeke was cancelled back in March, and Paris-Roubaix was called off just last week. That really just leaves Gent-Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders.
Gent-Wevelgem was held on Sunday in what could easily have been mistaken for spring weather. Rain peppered the men’s race and the roads were left slick and muddy in places. The Grubers and Kristof Ramon were out in Flanders to capture the action for CyclingTips. Here’s what they saw.
